I'm reading Goldengrove by Francine Prose and it's beautiful. She is a magnificent writer. The theme is very similar to Songs for the Missing by Stewart O'Nan, which I just read, so I almost feel like I'm reading the same book or maybe the sequel. Oh, well. This is another bargain find that I think is definitely worth full price. Prose has a way with words! I'm not even halfway through the book, though, so I'll reserve final judgment for the end...but so far this is one of the better books I've read over the past few weeks. The really great writers set themselves apart so easily...why do I ever waste my time with mediocre writers and mediocre books? Never again, I say!

Did she make that name up? That is too funny! I know, life is too short for crap, but crappy books are sneaky. They sometimes disguise themselves with beautiful covers and raving blurbs on the back. Beware!
